I recently wrote a blog about the workplace! Her I recently wrote a blog about the workplace!
Here are the top 4 ways to be supportive of your neurodivergent coworkers:
⭐️Take Advantage Of Education and Training - Neurodiversity training can positively impact everyone involved, allowing management to learn new styles of leading and understand possible accommodations while allowing neurodiverse employees to contribute to the conversation and bring in a new perspective
⭐️Redefine How You See Engagement - Understand that being engaged looks different for many people. Don't assume someone isn't engaged just because their actions don't follow your understanding. Ex: some neurodivergent individuals may not make eye contact. This does not mean they are not listening and engaged.
⭐️ Learn and Respect Boundaries - Be mindful of new accommodations set up in your workplace. The first step to respecting boundaries is respecting the accommodations you see put in place.
⭐️ Continue To Have an Open Mind - To build a supportive work environment for everyone involved, we must be open to new things and possible changes that could happen. Whether that is implementing flexible scheduling, allowing people to work in quieter workspaces, listening to music in headphones, or having meetings for training initiatives, we all must keep an open mind as we move forward into a time of equality for all workers and their needs.
