An Attorney. An Author. An Artist. An Advocate.

Haley was diagnosed with autism when she was 3 years old. Today, Haley is an attorney, author, advocate, artist, and consultant who is passionate about disability inclusion and neurodiversity. Haley takes her passion to help our world be more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. Her personal and professional experiences allow her to bring unique insight and perspective across different professions and settings.

Haley is a keynote speaker and educator. She loves to speak publicly about her experiences and be in front of a crowd (while autism may make socializing difficult for me sometimes, she happens to very much enjoy public speaking). In fact, Haley’s philosophy is that if sharing her story could make a difference in one person’s life, then it was all worth it. Haley is an adjunct professor at Taylor University in the Psychology department.

As an author, Haley has written four books – one on the middle school years, one about college, one about the transition to adulthood and independence, one filled with stories on autism, and one about neurodiversity for lawyers and other professionals. Her writing has also been featured in various media outlets and legal journals. Haley writes about autism in various contexts, whether it be personal experiences, media representation, politics, or how important it is to be heard and part of the conversation. After all, there is a famous saying in the disability community: “nothing about us, without us.”

Haley speaks, shares, and advocates for change, believing the world needs to be ready and accepting of all kinds of bodies and minds. The future begins now. The future is neurodiverse. The future is accessible. The future is people with disabilities. Haley is ready. Are you?

an inspiring journey

Journey to

attorney

Haley graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology & Law and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2015. She completed both degrees in three years. After her time at UF, Haley attended the University of Miami School of Law, where she was fortunate to be named a Miami Public Interest Scholar committed to promoting access to justice for all. She was the Student Commencement Speaker at her law school graduation in May 2018. When admitted to the Florida Bar in 2019, Haley made international headlines as Florida’s first documented openly autistic attorney. Today, she advocates for the legal profession to embrace neurodiversity.

an accomplished

artist

Haley is also an artist whose style is best described as an influence between pop art and anime with its varying color palettes and whimsical style. She often donates and auctions off her original paintings and prints to benefit nonprofits that serve individuals with disabilities and their communities. She hopes her artwork makes others smile and brightens their day.

Neurodiversity and Disability

advocacy

Haley has been actively involved in autism advocacy beginning when she spoke at a conference when she was 13 and eventually shared that she was autistic with my classmates during her freshman year of high school. Numerous nonprofit organizations recognized her efforts as an active fundraiser and philanthropist. As an advocate, Haley brings issues facing autistic people and their perspectives to the forefront through her writing and speaking, alongside her fundraising through artwork. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Disability Rights Florida and Starkloff Disability Institute.

keynote

speaking

Haley is also an engaging speaker who enjoys sharing her story with those who wish to learn, improve, and make positive changes in their organizations and communities. Haley’s audiences say they relate to her sense of humor and profound wisdom. Haley has spoken at many large events, speaking to nonprofits, large corporations, leaders, students, professionals, parents, and so many others who have an impact on those around them.

Some of her favorite topics to speak about are the importance of neurodiversity and autism acceptance, autism, and women, autism in the workplace, transitions to adulthood, college, middle school, and high school, and overcoming obstacles – and a little bit of disability law and policy.
